TERA launches the TERA NOMAD: Portable and sustainable energy for a future without limits

The Energy Challenge of the 21st Century

The energy transition is an urgent necessity. As electricity demand grows exponentially and the effects of climate change become increasingly evident, the challenge is clear: reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and find efficient, sustainable, and accessible solutions.

Energy storage plays a key role in this process. Without systems capable of storing and managing electricity in a flexible and efficient way, harnessing renewable sources like solar and wind would remain a challenge. Additionally, the increasing digitalization of daily life and the rise of electric mobility require solutions that provide access to clean energy anytime, anywhere.

Spain, aware of this need, is experiencing a boom in energy storage projects, with more than 140 initiatives totaling over €3 billion in investment.

The growing integration of renewable energy into Spain’s electricity mix has led to production that sometimes exceeds demand. In this scenario of energy surplus production, having storage devices that can capture and utilize this energy is essential to avoid waste. Currently, there are more than 25 gigawatts (GW) of battery connection requests to the transmission and distribution grid in Spain, with nearly 10 GW already having received access and connection permits.

In this context, TERA, the innovative company from Alicante specializing in the manufacturing, diagnostics, and refurbishment of lithium batteries, is leading the way in the sector with a strong investment in technological development and production of energy stations tailored to the needs of both domestic and large-scale commercial and industrial consumption.

Launch of the TERA NOMAD: Energy autonomy without limits
Recent updates regarding renewable installation incentives predict that renewables hybridized with 2- to 4-hour storage will be given dispatch priority starting in 2025.

This forecast, combined with growing demand for portable storage systems, has prompted TERA to launch the TERA NOMAD—a portable power station designed to provide an all-in-one energy solution for the home, outdoor adventures, emergency situations, or remote work environments.
TERA’s innovation doesn’t stop there. Aligned with its company philosophy focused on the global goal of decarbonization, it also introduces the NOMAD 3R version, taking sustainability a step further. This model is built using recovered components from electric vehicle batteries, extending their usability and reducing electronic waste.

Thanks to this second-life approach, the unnecessary extraction of raw materials is avoided, CO₂ emissions associated with new battery production are reduced, and a circular economy model is promoted.
Access to electricity in any environment is no longer just a matter of comfort—it’s about safety and efficiency. With 2880 Wh capacity and 3150 W of nominal power, these devices can power everything from small electronics to high-consumption appliances, ensuring backup energy in multiple scenarios. Its advanced technology allows for:

  • Solar charging in under 5 hours, making the most of the sun’s energy.

  • Charging from the power grid in just 2 hours for rapid energy recovery.

  • Over 3,000 charge cycles with more than 80% capacity retention, ensuring long lifespan.
These specs aren’t just numbers—they represent a real change in how we manage daily energy use. For example, with the NOMAD you can run a fridge for up to 8 days, a TV for 1.5 days, or a portable air conditioner for 5 hours.

Official Presentation at MOTORTEC 2025
The key event to discover the TERA NOMAD in person will be MOTORTEC 2025, the leading trade fair for the automotive sector, taking place at IFEMA Madrid from April 23 to 26. On Tuesday, April 23 at 4:00 PM, the company will offer a live demonstration of the product’s capabilities at its booth and will be available to answer attendees’ questions.

The Value of Sustainability and the Circular Economy
While energy autonomy is vital, the true impact lies in its contribution to sustainability. Reducing the carbon footprint and material waste is a central pillar of its design.

TERA’s commitment to the circular economy doesn’t end with manufacturing. The company has developed a refurbishment service that allows users to extend the lifespan of their devices even further.
When a TERA NOMAD begins to show signs of wear, customers can access this service to replace degraded battery modules, upgrade components, and optimize the device’s performance. This way, instead of becoming waste, the energy stations can continue operating at peak efficiency, prolonging their usable life.
This model not only reduces costs for the user, but also lowers the environmental impact of tech consumption. By promoting repair and reuse, electronic waste generation is minimized, and already extracted resources are used to their full potential.

Toward a More Sustainable and Independent Future
The future of energy depends heavily on a shift in consumer mindset. The key is not only to produce more clean energy, but also to use our existing resources more efficiently and responsibly.

The era of energy storage has arrived in Spain, bringing with it the opportunity to transform the electricity system into a more sustainable and efficient model. Innovations like the TERA NOMAD and its eco-friendly version, the TERA NOMAD 3R, are powerful examples of how technology can adapt to current needs—offering solutions that combine energy autonomy, sustainability, and commitment to circular economy and environmental protection.

As we move toward a greener future, the adoption of efficient storage systems is proving to be a key step in the journey toward decarbonization and energy stability.
